Research #1 S uzani source: https://www.christies.com/en/stories/a-guide-to-suzani-textiles-9cf74aa2a759435ebf8914e4e14b8bc9 This fabric surface pattern originated from nomadic tribes in Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and other Central Asian countries. These fabrics are highly collectable and valued for their craftsmanship. Suzani originates all the way back from the 15th century. It not only holds symbolic significance, as it was used by brides and their mothers as dowry, but it was also traditionally used in yurts with several different purposes. The intricate patterns on these textiles are accomplished by using a loom, patterns are drawn out and final details are embroidered on. These pieces were most commonly made in two parts, once each side was completed, the sides were sewn together. A Few Of My Favorite Things

A Few Of My Favorite Things 1) Lighter- There are a few things that I will always have on me, one being a clipper lighter. It comes in handy to have because if anyone ever needs a lighter, I can offer mine. 2) Bracelet- I always wear bracelets, each have a meaning. The bracelet that is in this picture is a 4 Ocean bracelet, which supports the protection of the ocean. 3) FreeStyle Watch- My favorite watch that I have ever owned. I never take it off (except for this picture), and its well made and comfortable to wear. The brands goal is to capture the essence of living freely. 4) Scrunchy- I like scrunchies because they are a lot gentler on my hair than regular hair ties, and they function as an accessory as well. 5) Class Ring- I worked a whole summer to be able to buy my class ring for high school. Touch Response Title: "FireLight" By Sarah Winfree Dimensions: Digital Medium: Camera "A hand moves with a complex precision that's irreplaceable... Because we use out hands so often for so many purposes, flexing, bending, gripping..."(Ackerman 117) This photograph I took relates to the "touch" section of Ackerman's book, because of the proximity of the hand to the fire. In this picture you can see the hand gripping a cigarette. Another reason I chose to use this picture for this assignment is because when I think of touch, the first word that comes to mind is heat, and how like a flame, a touch is warm. In the book A Natural Journey of the Senses , Ackerman also discusses the intimacy of touch, which is often compared to a flame rising up inside someone.
